About me:

ELIZABETH DUFFIN
B.OST, BSC HONS, MSC

I'm very excited to start working with Reigate Rugby Club, a club that I have known for over 20 years, with my husband having played in various teams over the years as a colt, senior and then a vet, so we've spent a lot of time at the club (and in the bar) over the years. I graduated from the British School of Osteopathy (now University College of Osteopathy) in 2005 and I've been practising in East & West Sussex ever since. Treating patients of all ages from babies to senior citizens, and everyone in between.

I've been an (amateur) athlete for over 30 years and regularly coach athletics, which helps to explain why I have a specialist interest in sports injuries, and in 2011 I completed my MSc in Osteopathic Sports Care, which led to a role in the medical team at the London 2012 Olympics & at the recent Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. I've worked with a huge variety of sportspeople during my career, for example from:

Motor racing
Horse riding
Rugby
Footballhalf-price
Hockey
Track & field athletics

In addition, I've also trained in Strength & Conditioning, and done many additional courses on rehabilitation, movement skills, and several Kinesiology Taping courses with ROCKTape, the leading sports tape brand, and have qualified as a 'Rock Doc' I find this skill really useful with all sorts of injuries, not just sports ones.

I'm registered with the General Osteopathic Council (reg no. 5882), and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy. I'm also registered with all the major health insurance providers in the UK.

Osteopathy is a very much a hands-on profession, where we examine and treat mostly with our hands. I use a combination of hands-on treatment, movement testing and exercise prescription to allow people to be part of their own recovery process, this allows them to realise how well their body can work and that simple exercises done well can have a huge impact on their recovery. The way we work means that we give individualised advice to make sure everyone gets an appointment unique to their particular problem.

As an Osteopath, I think it is important to educate people to understand their bodies and why they might be in pain, so it's less about me 'fixing' someone and more about working with someone to make them better and allow them to help themselves.
