The match was played in very wet and windy conditions. Tough conditions for fast flowing rugby but both teams tried their best to play attacking rugby.

Reigate got off to our customary fast start and a nice bit of back passing out to the wing set Sam loose down the wing and with a very clever sidestep scored the first try in the first minute.

Shortly after the restart, a bit of mishandling in midfield saw us gain possession and Jack burst through their back line to put us two tries up after 5 minutes. Warlingham replied shortly after with a good passing move to keep within a try.

The game settled into to battle in midfield with Warlingham very quick to the breakdown denying us ball and stifling our progress up the field. Some good breaks by the forwards and some hard work at the breakdowns soon found Owen breaking through only to be brought down yards from the line. Again good support retained the ball and Connor seized the opportunity to score a great try round the side of the breakdown.

Warlingham then turned up the pressure and put us on the back foot for long periods, scoring a try from an interception and continuing to attack in our 22. However, loose handling saw us retrieve the ball and release Ryan for a blistering run and try which just before half time couldn’t have come at a better time.

Conditions improved only slightly in the second half and series of substitutions and injuries saw play become disjointed and the number of handling errors on both sides with a very slippery ball increased.

Some superb work by the forwards in the centre of the pitch saw us steal more ball and release Jack to break through their line. One on one with their fullback, jack chose a full on collision which resulted in their full back on the floor and Jack just about making over the try line. A Sam sidestep maybe the better option next time!

Credit to Warlingham that they did not give up and the Reigate forwards especially had to withstand some intense pressure and kept their heads to repel any attempts to break our line. It was fitting then that the last try of the game was created by the forwards when Hayden picked up the ball and showed determination and great footwork to pass half their team before releasing Jack to finish and seal the game.

The support from the sidelines was superb throughout and despite the weather, like the lads, they kept going til the end.
